Hong Kong Port and Maritime Board members appointed

The appointment of 16 members by the Chief Executive to the Hong Kong Port and Maritime Board (HKPMB) was gazetted today (23 June). Among the 16 appointees, six are appointed for the first time, including the Chairman, Sir Gordon Wu. They will serve on the Board for a term of two years from 1 June 2000. Together with eight other incumbents, the Board now comprises 24 members.

The HKPMB is an advisory committee set up in June 1998 with the mission to assist the Government to develop and promote Hong Kong as a leading port and an international maritime and logistics centre. This is the second term of the HKPMB since it was re-organised from the previous Port Development Board to underline its new responsibility for developing and promoting Hong Kong's maritime industry.
